Matthew Furtado is a puppeteer and actor who played Professor Art in the 2006-2007 international tour of the Sesame Street Live production, Elmo's Coloring Book. The tour included two weeks at Madison Square Garden, a performance on The Today Show, and several months of performances in South America, the Caribbean and Asia.

In 2008, Furtado was cast in the world premiere stage version of Emmet Otter's Jug-Band Christmas. He understudied Tyler Bunch and the puppeteers, as well as many of the male supporting roles: Wendell Porcupine, Harrison Fox, Will Possum, Chuck Stoat, Stanley Weasel, Fred Lizard, Charlie Muskrat, and Harvey Beaver. For the 2009/2010 production, Furtado took over the role of Harvey Beaver nightly while still standing by for the puppeteers, going on several times as Doc Bullfrog, Tiny Squirrel and others. He performed Skippy Squirrel at the 2010 Gala honoring Paul Williams. That same year, he was invited to participate in Henson Alternative's initial one-night improv workshop for their Off-Broadway show, Stuffed and Unstrung. In 2014, he was selected to be part of Sesame Workshop's puppeteer workshop in New York, taught by Matt Vogel, Martin Robinson and Peter Linz.
