Shields, Yarnell, and the Muppets sing "Make 'Em Laugh" for the closing number in episode 403 of The Muppet Show.

It was also performed as part of the Walt Disney World live stage show Here Come the Muppets.

The song is very similar to Cole Porter's song "Be a Clown". It was the only completely new number written by Freed and Brown specifically for the film Singin' in the Rain.
