In Elmo Saves Christmas, Santa Claus gets stuck down a chimney, and after Elmo helps Santa get unstuck, Santa gives Elmo a choice between two special presents, a pink bear and a magic snowglobe. Elmo initially wants the bear, before he is told that the magic snowglobe can grant three wishes.

Elmo chooses the snowglobe. He first wishes for a drink of water, then he wishes for Christmas to be every day, and after realising that Christmas is more special if celebrated only once a year, attempts to wish for things to be back to normal, but he accidentally sends the snowglobe flying before he can complete his wish, causing it to crash to the ground and break.

In order to make a wish on the snowglobe, one has to shake the snowglobe, make a wish, and say "Blitzen".
