It was sung by Rosita, Benny Rabbit, Big Bird, The Count, Elmo, Hoots the Owl, Oscar the Grouch and Prairie Dawn on Hot! Hot! Hot! Dance Songs.
The song was also spoofed on Sesame Street as "Monsterena."

- In Muppets Tonight episode 205, Ernst Stavros Grouper plays a song called, "Macadamia," for his new segment, "Muppet Dance Party." When Coolio said that it should be called "Macarena," Ernst replies he couldn't get the rights for that music.
