episode 308
Lorettalynn

Loretta Lynn (1932-2022) was one of the most celebrated and honored country singers. She was the guest star on The Muppet Show episode 308.

For Sesame Street, she sang "Count on Me" with the Count, which was also separately recorded for the 1981 album Sesame Country. She also appeared on the show performing "Songs Are For Singing" with the kids (First: Episode 2010).

Lynn was a guest on an April 17, 1989 broadcast of The Tonight Show, when Jim Henson and Kermit were also appearing to promote The Jim Henson Hour. At one point, Lynn referenced her Muppet Show appearance, claiming that Miss Piggy never left the beautician's chair the whole show because she was afraid of her. During the goodnights, Lynn can be seen talking with Henson and Kermit and appearing to kiss the latter.

Her signature song is "Coal Miner's Daughter." She was elected to the Country Music Hall of Fame in 1988.

Her younger sister, Crystal Gayle, was also a guest on The Muppet Show and Sesame Street.
