Lewis Carroll (1832 - 1898) was the pen name of author Charles Lutwidge Dodgson.

Carroll is best remembered for his book Alice's Adventures in Wonderland (1865) and its sequel Through the Looking-Glass, and What Alice Found There (1871). The Alice stories have been adapted in several Muppet and Creature Shop productions, notably on episode 506 of The Muppet Show, with guest star Brooke Shields in the role of Alice.

Both Carroll's writing and real life were used as the basis for the film Dreamchild, which detailed the relationship between Dodgson and Alice Liddell, the inspiration for the character of Alice. Ian Holm portrayed Dodgson/Carroll, and the Creature Shop provided puppets of the fictional characters.
