Let's Learn to Play Together

Let's Learn to Play Together is a 1988 Sesame Street interactive home video released for the View-Master Interactive Vision video game system. The system came with a simple controller which included a joystick and three colorful buttons. As the video plays, the characters address the player directly, and ask the player to make a choice by pressing one of the buttons. The video has a number of different soundtracks recorded, and the player's choices toggle back and forth between the soundtracks, giving the impression that the player has changed the course of the story.

SCENE 1 Big Bird tells the player that Snuffy has a surprise that involves his Snuffleupagus-sized portable television set, which turns out to be the size of a regular TV (Snuffy: "You oughta see the console we have at home!"). Luis hooks up the video console which includes the controller used on the Interactive-Vision. Luis tells them that they might have more fun figuring out how to use it themselves, and leaves them with the instruction manual.

SCENE 1 cont'd Big Bird and Snuffy observe the controller, which is the same one the player is holding, and they briefly see themselves on the TV. They learn that the player must wiggle the joystick to erase the bricks. They sing a song, "Wiggle the Stick," to encourage the player.
