Late Night Buffet is an in-development television series produced by The Jim Henson Company for TBS. Plans for the program were first announced in in June 2006 and the show was said to possibly start airing in early 2007.
The late-night talk show features celebrity guests, sketches and skits, a house band and other comedy bits. The twist is that the show would star puppets as the hosts and other supporting cast roles.
Brian Henson stated in a 2006 interview that:
"Late Night Buffet" has not been listed as a "children's show" (and members of the live studio audience must be over 18). The show hopes to reach a more grown-up audience – similar to the target group of Jim Henson's Puppet Improv.
Michael Wright (TBS senior vice president of original programming) said that "it's a different way to approach the late-night talk show...It takes the Henson brand's intelligence and warmth and mixes it with a little wickedness and fun."
Two pilot episodes were taped before a live audience at the Jim Henson Company studios on July 22, 2006. The air dates/time and other details have not been released.
