105 muppaphone

Marvin Suggs and his Muppaphone perform "Lady of Spain" in episode 105 of The Muppet Show. In their first appearance on the show, Marvin Suggs introduces his Muppaphone and then "tunes" them by running through a scale. The song is performed by Marvin hitting the Muppaphones in sequence with his mallet; they say "ow!" at the appropriate pitch to create the melody. The number ends with a giant mallet appearing from the wings to hit Marvin on the head.

Marvin Suggs also performed a brief version of this in the courtroom scene from Alice in Wonderland in episode 506, when he hits members of the jury on the head with his gavel.

In the 1979 film The Muppet Movie, Kermit the Frog is quietly pacing through the Ghost Town when his reverie is interrupted by an explosion of sound and motion—a rain barrel, bursting into life to play a tinny version of "Lady of Spain". Bunsen Honeydew and Beaker appear through a door, and explain to Kermit that this is their new invention, "the Musical Rotating Rain Barrel".
