"Lady Marmalade" is a 1974 song originally recorded for the group Eleventh Hour, and made famous in 1975 by the group Labelle, and peaked at number one on the Billboard Top 100, and Top Soul Singles charts. In 2001 a cover version was produced for the Moulin Rouge! soundtrack performed by Christina Aguilera, Lil' Kim, Mýa, and Pink, and in the film was performed in a medley with "Smells Like Teen Spirit."

In It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, during the Moulin Scrooge performance, a group of Chickens clucked the song, as Penguins squawked "Smells Like Teen Spirit," in a medley similar to the movie. At the end of the performance Miss Piggy repeats the lyric "Voulez-vous coucher avec moi?" to Kermit the Frog, which translates to "Do you want to sleep with me?"
