"Knock Three Times" is a song about 3 sung by Oscar the Grouch. He explains that if you want to see him, you can knock three times on his trash can lid but he'll yell "Go Away!". If you want to take him for a drive, you can honk three times, but he won't come out. And if you want to talk to him you can call and let the phone ring three times but he won't answer. Because he doesn't want to talk to, ride with, or see anybody! But at the end of the song he realizes that if nobody knocks, honks or rings three times there won't be anyone to bother him! So he says, "So I guess you could knock three times or honk three times or ring three times. Whatever."
The song was performed on the show by Oscar and Grundgetta in Episode 2013. This performance uses the same backing track as the album version, as well as most of Oscar's vocals from the first verse, but features a rewritten bridge.
