Kalidah Critics

The Kalidah Critics are a pair of vicious creatures who rip those they encounter to shreds, not physically, but through their words. They have hairy, clawed bodies and horns on their grizzled heads. The pair guard the Kalidah Bridge, which must be crossed en route to the Emerald City.

Behind the Scenes

The Kalidah Critics are loosely based on the Kalidahs, dangerous animals with the bodies of bears and the heads of tigers, as found in the original Oz books by L. Frank Baum. More physically menacing in the books, the source of their menace was altered to be a better fit for Statler and Waldorf.
