John Candy

John Candy (1950-1994) was a popular comedic film and TV actor from Toronto, Canada. Candy first became well-known as a member of the original cast of SCTV.

1985: Cameo appearance in Sesame Street Presents: Follow That Bird

1986: Appeared on Sesame Street in the guise of Yosh Shmenge, one of his characters from SCTV. On the show, Shmenge sells Oscar the Grouch a clarinet for his pet worm Slimey. Candy (as Shmenge) was included in the the celebrity version of "Put Down the Duckie".

1986: Appeared in a photo spread, "John Candy's Ode to Spring", in Muppet Magazine issue 14.

1986: He starred in the Frank Oz-directed film Little Shop of Horrors.

1994: Appeared on Sesame Street's All-Star 25th Birthday special (archive footage only).

Yosh Shmenge sells Oscar the Grouch a clarinet on Sesame Street.
