Joel McHale (b. 1971) is a stand-up comedian and actor best known as the host of The Soup and as Jeff Winger on the NBC sitcom Community.

McHale appeared on Sesame Street to explain the word "prickly" in a Season 42 Word of the Day segment. (Huffington Post noted that his character, Winger, was prickly.)

Statler and Waldorf made an appearance on The Soup (March 21, 2012), promoting the video release of The Muppets. The pair heckled McHale throughout the program. Statler and Waldorf also appeared in a web-exclusive spoof of The Soup, replacing McHale as host.

In 2015, McHale appeared in an Audi commercial with Kermit the Frog and Miss Piggy.

McHale's film credits include Spiderman 2, Open Season 2 and Spy Kids 4: All the Time in the World. Television credits include appearances on CSI: Miami, Pushing Daisies and Robot Chicken.
