Jim Henson Statue

Scuplted by Jay Hall Carpenter, a statue of Jim Henson and Kermit the Frog resides in front of the Adele H. Stamp Student Union at the University of Maryland, Henson's alma mater. (Latitude: 38°59'15.60"N, longitude: 76°56'42.18"W)
The unveiling ceremony was held on September 24th (Jim Henson's birthday), 2003. Willard Scott emceed the event with Henson's family in attendance. The University's Hornbake Library was also home to the Designs and Doodles Exhibit during the month of September.
It was a gift from the UMD Classes of 1994, 1998 and 1999. A documentary was produced on the conception and making of the statue, Jim Henson: Creator of Dreams.
