Jim Henson: Creator of the Muppets is a 23-page biography of Jim Henson written for children.

The book features original illustrations rather than photographs. They include Henson at a high school puppet club blowing up balloons for a party, Kermit the Frog and Cookie Monster performing "I've Grown Accustomed to Your Face" early in his career, and Henson accepting an award in Britain [sic] for The Muppet Show as Ernie, Bert and Grover look on.

The narrative perpetuates the misnomer that Henson created the word Muppet as an amalgamation of the words "puppet" and "marionette", by going so far as to illustrate Ernie and Gobo Fraggle as marionette puppets. The book also incorrectly notes that Henson created Miss Piggy, Kermit the Frog and Animal for Sesame Street.

The end of the book includes six steps to Reaching Your Goal (as the book series implies) to some day becoming a puppeteer like Jim Henson. This is followed by a list of other books in the series for such personalities as Dr. Seuss, Bill Cosby, Cher and Steven Spielberg.
