Jennifer Hudson (b. 1981) is an Academy Award-winning actress and Grammy-nominated singer. She first gained notice as one of the finalists on the third season of the FOX television series American Idol and made her film debut in Dreamgirls (2006), netting a Best Supporting Actress Oscar for her portrayal of Effie White.

Hudson appeared in the Sesame Street holiday special Elmo's Christmas Countdown singing "Carol of the Bells" with a group of Muppet forest animals, including Hoots the Owl. Hudson commented on the appearance:
