The Jack-in-the-Box is one of the playroom toys in The Christmas Toy. He's the first toy seen, in the pre-title sequence but generally functions as a background character within the special itself. At one point, he exhibits mild irritation at being cramped in a box much of the time.
A slightly altered version of the puppet was used for Sesame Street, briefly appearing in the Elmo the Musical segment "Detective the Musical."
