"I Hope That Somethin' Better Comes Along" is a duet performed by Kermit the Frog and Rowlf the Dog in The Muppet Movie. After Miss Piggy abandons Kermit at a restaurant so that she can go on an audition, he wanders to the bar and orders a grasshopper to drink away his sorrows. The pianist, Rowlf, commiserates with Kermit as they sing about the difficulty of living both with and without women. At the end of the song, Rowlf notes that "It's not often you see a guy that green have the blues that bad."
This is a rare pairing of the two characters, because Jim Henson performs both voices. In order to achieve the duet, the two tracks were recorded separately by Jim and then combined.
The version of the song that appears on the soundtrack contains some lyrics that were cut from the final version of the film.
Although the song's legal title (as registered with ASCAP) reads "Something", records and sheet music all show it as "Somethin'".
