"I'm Going to Go Back There Someday" is an original song written for the 1979 film The Muppet Movie. The Muppets get stranded in the desert, and as night falls they sit around a campfire. Gonzo recalls his experience flying and expresses his longing to return to the sky in song.
In 1990, Dave Goelz performed the song with piano on stage at Jim Henson's Memorial.
Gonzo re-recorded the song for the 1999 film Muppets from Space. Although the song is not heard in the movie, it is included in the soundtrack.
In 2005, Gonzo and Paul Williams recorded a version of this song for the dualdisc set I'm Going Back There Someday.
In 2011, Rachael Yamagata performed the song on "The Green Album".
