How Now Brown appeared on Sesame Street as the leader of the 1980s new-wave rock band How Now Brown and the Moo Wave. Though his back-up singers were cows, How Now Brown wore a viking helmet, a bandana and a pair of galoshes. The group performed such songs as "Wet Paint" and "Danger's No Stranger." Both videos have MTV-style captions that refer to Splotchkat Records, an in-joke reference to composer Christopher Cerf’s publishing company.
