"Hey a Movie!" is the opening number from The Great Muppet Caper. It takes place in a busy street where Kermit, Fozzie, and Gonzo change into their reporter gear and try to find a good cover story for The Daily Chronicle. But when Gonzo decides to take a picture of a chicken, the trio miss Nicky Holiday stealing Lady Holiday's diamonds. Several car accidents and other catastrophes later, the reporters still remain blissfully unaware. Also in this sequence, Sweetums falls down a sewer hole, a group of monsters take over a truck that they were caged in, and Richard Hunt makes an on-screen cameo as a taxi driver.

The song was reprised during the end credits by the Muppets as they parachuted down from an airplane.

The Muppets also sang "Hey a Movie!" at the start of The Muppets Go to the Movies, and in Muppets on Location: Days of Swine and Roses. An instrumental version of this song was also used as the theme for Statler and Waldorf: From the Balcony.
