Herman Bird is Big Bird's cousin, who lives in the country. Herman bears a striking resemblance to his city cousin; Maria has a hard time telling the difference between them.
Herman visits Sesame Street in episode 0745. Preparing for the visit, Big Bird tries to build a house for his cousin, but he forgets to hold the wood together, and it falls apart.
Herman has a hard time falling asleep during his visit, because the city noises wake him up. Big Bird plays farm animal sounds on his tape recorder, which helps Herman sleep -- but the loud noises wake up everyone else in the neighborhood.
