Happiness Begins at 40 is a Sesame Street game show hosted by Guy Smiley. As its title suggests, the game involves counting to 40 along with the audience: a lighted board reveals each new number as the count progresses. The contestants are a family of Anything Muppets whom Guy introduces as "the Sad family"; they enter the studio crying dramatically, but gradually become happier as they continue counting. Unlike most Sesame Street game shows, this one never awards or announces a prize to the contestants; happiness seems to be reward enough.
