Haneen is a cheerful female Palestinian Muppet from the Israeli-Palestinian co-production Rechov Sumsum/Shara'a Simsim and the new solo Palestinian version Hikayat Simsim. Haneen is a vivacious five-year-old who is learning how to count, read, and write. In contrast to the stereotypes and old cultural expectations of passive Arab females, Haneen believes she can do anything, even when she occasionally stumbles. Her motto is, “I can, I can!” Haneen is active and inquisitive, enjoys playing soccer, and occasionally pretends to be a superhero, "Super Haneen." In the earlier series, she gradually became friends with the Israeli Muppet Dafi, but currently, her best friend is Kareem the rooster.

She likes to dress up (especially as “Super Haneen”), and she loves soccer. Haneen is spontaneous, energetic, and definitely enjoys the limelight.
