Højt fra træets grønne top ("High from the green tree top") are an old Danish christmas song, originally it was a poem that Peter Faber wrote about his family for the Christmas in 1847, at that time it had 6 verses all including members of the Faber family. The next year Faber teamed up with Emil Horneman and they added 2 more verses and wrote new music for the song and it was then published in "Sang for Børn" in 1848.
