Grover Visits His Granny was released in 1978 as part of the Fisher-Price "Talk-to-Me Books" series. Each page features small vinyl circles which, when played with a "Fisher-Price Talk to Me Book player," play audio, allowing readers to hear as well as read the story.

In the story, Grover is invited to a sleepover at his grandmother's house. His mommy helps him pack and prepare. Grover then imagines all the different ways he could travel to his granny's house. He imagines traveling by roller skates, motorscooter, truck, subway, horse, train, bus, ship, and airplane (each with its share of obstacles and comedic challenges). Grover's mommy then reminds Grover that his granny lives just around the corner and he can simply walk there.
