Grouch Mayor

The Grouch Mayor is the elected leader of Grouchland USA. In The Adventures of Elmo in Grouchland, he's the principal singer for the ensemble number, "Welcome to Grouchland."

In production notes for the film, designer Stephen Rotondaro referred to him as a version of Groucho Marx, as is evident by his "Groucho" style face, with glasses, eyebrows, nose, and moustache all connected. His costume was inspired by the Mayor of Munchkinland in the MGM film version of The Wizard of Oz.
