Grateful Dead was a rock band fronted by the late Jerry Garcia and Bob Weir. They are famous for their concert tours which attracted a groupie following who were dubbed as "dead heads."

In 1988, they arranged The Rainforest Benefit, a concert to raise awareness for environmentalism. The Muppets were featured in a video spot during one of the music breaks.
