The Amazing Mumford comes from a long line of equally amazing Mumfords. One is his grandmother Mumford, who he calls Grandmum.

In The Sesame Street Cookbook, Mumford talks about Grandmum in the introduction to his soup recipe: "Grandmum says that the most magical thing she knows is chicken soup. She says a little chicken soup makes everthing taste better."
