Gonger is a small pink monster who first appeared on The Furchester Hotel and later joined the cast of Sesame Street in season 48.

On The Furchester Hotel, Gonger initially served a minor role in the first season, banging his gong to alert everyone of "Monster Tea Time," particularly the Tea Time Monsters. In the second season of the show, Gonger's role was expanded to hotel chef, where he still is able to bang his gong for tea time from the kitchen.

In the first season of The Furchester Hotel, Gonger was typically performed by Mak Wilson[1] and occasionally by David Rudman. In the second season, Warrick Brownlow-Pike became the character's primary performer.

In 2017, the character was imported to Sesame Street as the co-star of the season 48 segment "Cookie Monster's Foodie Truck," which pairs Gonger with Cookie Monster to cook orders from kids. His grandmother, who bears a strong family resemblance, appears in one edition of the segment.

In 2018, a costumed character of Gonger was introduced into the Sesame Street Live show, Make Your Magic. As part of the show's exclusive merchandise, a 10" Gonger plush doll was available for purchase.
