The Global Media Awards were established by the The National Academy of Television Arts & Sciences (NATAS) and the Consumer Electronics Association (CEA) in 2008. The awards were designed to recognize advancements in creative content and technological innovation in the world entertainment.
In December 2008 Muppets.com was nominated for "Outstanding Short Form Entertainment" in the inaugural ceremony of the Global Media Awards - a fact that was touted on the official site's News Flash News Ticker. However the Muppets lost the award to The New York Times' "Life in Transition" web series.
