Glinda is the Good Witch of the South in L. Frank Baum's novel The Wonderful Wizard of Oz. In her most famous representation, the MGM film The Wizard of Oz, Glinda, in addition to shouldering the responsibility of showing Dorothy how to get back home to Kansas, also takes on the role played in the novel by the the Good Witch of the North, namely giving Dorothy the Wicked Witch of the East's slippers in Munchkinland and sending her on her journey along the Yellow Brick Road to Emerald City.
In The Muppets' Wizard of Oz, the roles of the Good Witches are once again separated, and Glinda, who is portrayed as the most glamorous of all the witches, appears only at the end of the film. Although all four are played by Miss Piggy, it is only Glinda who appears to be attracted to Kermit's Scarecrow.
