Gilbert and Sullivan

Based on the 19th-Century light opera writing duo of the same names, Gilbert and Sullivan would often appear before Oscar the Grouch on Sesame Street and sing him a song about whatever subject was the topic of the day, aided by the human cast.
Sullivan is the first of the duo to appear on the show, appearing in the song Numerical Correspondence (where he was played by Jerry Nelson).
In the 1980s, they appeared in three inserts:

- At Your Library (see image)
- Before and After
