Georges Atlas (1926-1996) was a French voice actor who dubbed Cookie Monster (Macaron) and (initially) Count von Count (Le Comte) on 1, Rue Sésame, the first French co-production of Sesame Street, and in related albums. He was also heard in the dubs of The Dark Crystal (the High Priest), Labyrinth (original dub as Ludo, goblins, and one of the Four Guards), and Monstres et Merveilles (The StoryTeller, in episodic roles).
Active in French film since the 1950s, Atlas was most prolific as a voice actor, prominently featured in the French animated features Time Masters, The Smurfs and the Magic Flute, and installments in the Asterix, Lucky Luke, and TinTin series. Usually heard as heavies in live action projects, he revoiced Jeremy Bulloch as Boba Fett in the Star Wars movies, Lee Van Cleef in The Good, the Bad and the Ugly, Richard Kiel as Jaws in Moonraker, Bruce Forsyth in Bedknobs and Broomsticks, George Harris in Raiders of the Lost Ark, and Martin Landau in The Greatest Story Ever Told.
Other animation roles include the Tasmanian Devil in the Looney Tunes shorts, the doorknob in Disney's Alice in Wonderland, the crocodile in Robin Hood, the Great Owl in The Secret of NIMH, various villains on Scooby-Doo, and Dr. Claw on Inspector Gadget.
