George Burns (1896-1996) was a vaudeville-trained comedian, actor and singer. In addition to many movies, he co-starred with his wife, Gracie Allen, on a TV show called "The Burns and Allen Show" in the 1950s. Burns played the straight man to his wife's ditzy alter ego.

Burns won the Academy Award for Best Supporting Actor in The Sunshine Boys (1975). Acted in the Oh, God! film series (first film co-starred John Denver).

Burns died nearly two months after turning 100.
