The Gawky Birds are large-scale rod-puppets, originally conceived for a live Broadway revue to be performed at New York's Lincoln Center.^[1]

They were later used in occasional production numbers on The Muppet Show -- including a song and dance with Bruce Forsyth in episode 113.

The Gawky Birds stand 11 feet tall.
