"Fugue for Tinhorns," the opening number from Frank Loesser's musical Guys and Dolls, is a fugue trio about the joys of betting on horseracing. The song has been performed twice by the Muppets.
Bert, Ernie and Biff (dressed as Damon Runyon racetrack types) performed the song in Julie on Sesame Street, where they were trampled by the horses mentioned in the song.
Scooter and Fozzie Bear perform "Fugue for Tinhorns" as part of the Camelot joust scene medley during the closing number of The Muppet Show episode 305. The lyrics also provided the only on-screen reference of any name for the orange horse, first seen in episode 221, as "Paul Revere."
A variation, "Can Read", was performed on Sesame Street, with the repeated chorus "Can do, can do" becoming "Can read, can read."
