Frank Kelly (1938-2016) was an Irish actor and comedian, best known for playing the irascible, deranged priest Father Jack on the BBC sitcom Father Ted. In 2000, Kelly played the pontificating Uncle Matt in the Jim Henson Pictures film Rat.
Kelly began his television career on the children's series Wanderly Wagon in 1968, and the following year, played a bit part as a prison officer in The Italian Job (with Michael Caine and Timothy Bateson). He later appeared in the film Evelyn (with Pierce Brosnan and Julianna Margulies). Kelly had a stint as a regular on Emmerdale (2010-2011) and made appearances on Remington Steele, The Irish RM, and the scifi series Lexx.
