Birds in the Trees is a sketch from The Muppet Show: Sex and Violence.

Floyd Pepper introduces the number as "strictly for the birds" and proceeds to play a bass riff that underscores the play. The sketch consists of several solicitous male birds attempting to attract two females (who, in the end, settle for a more flamboyant latecomer).

Each bird has its own distinctive call using a singular expression. As the phrases are the only words spoken by the birds, they're incapable of referring to one another by name. However, production documents on display at The Jim Henson Exhibition identify their names as associated with their performer.

The idea for the sketch, with puppeteers manipulating the birds being dressed in black, was originally conceived by Jim Henson as part of his Broadway show proposal.
