Rumpel is interrupted by Piratenkapitän Wolfdietrich Säbelmeier, who has one half of a treasure map that used to belong to his great-great-great-grandfather, and he wants to find the treasure his great-great-great-grandfather buried with the help of Grimbert the Green Terror. As soon as Rumpel hears that name, he quickly dives down into his barrel and starts to look for something. When he pops up again he holds the second half of the map in his hands. Tt turns out that Grimbert the Green Terror was Rumpel's great-great-great-grandfather. They begin to fight over the two halves until they realize that they can search for the treasure together.

They begin the search, but can't agree which way to go as they each use their half of the map. Wolfdietrich Säbelmeier suggests that they hold the two halves together to see where they should go. Rumpel realizes that he is correct and they look at the complete map. Wolfdietrich quickly concludes which way they should go, but Rumpel protests, as he did not agree that Wolfdietrich Säbelmeier should be in command. But they quickly realize that they have to go together to keep the complete map.

They find the place and Rumpel tells Wolfdietrich Säbelmeier that he should start digging; however, Wolfdietrich Säbelmeier tells Rumpel that captains don't dig holes and Rumpel also refuses to dig. Shortly afterwards, Rumpel says that he really wants to see the treasure and so does the captain, so they agree to dig in shifts.

During the night they discover an old chest full of gold and other valuables. Wolfdietrich Säbelmeier is excited about the gold, but Rumpel is more interested in the old chest. They then realize that they have different interests in the treasure and start to sing about the treasure hunt while dividing it. Wolfdietrich Säbelmeier gets the gold and Rumpel keeps the chest.
