Metro Manners

Launched in 2005, the Metro Manners poster campaign in Tokyo, Japan reminded those in transit on the subway system of proper manners. It was run by Sesame Street Partners Japan, the company associated with the Japanese adaptation of Sesame Street.

The campaign was scheduled to run from April 1, 2005 to March 2006. The posters were posted in 12 locations at all stations, and were available for public purchase at all ticket counters, for a cost of 3,000 Yen, tax included.

Lesson 1: Give your seat to someone who needs it.

Lesson 2: Don't take up too much room with your newspaper!

Lesson 3: Help everybody stay dry--roll up your umbrella!

Lesson 7: Don't rush for the train!

Lesson 9: Be sure to take all your stuff with you!

Lesson 10: Stay behind the white line!

Lesson 12: Step off for a second and let the people behind you get off the train.

Later ads in the campaign featured graphics of actual adult humans.
