From The Muppets.

The Muppet Theater Auditorium is the space for the audience of The Muppet Theatre shows. In theatre terms, this space is referred to as the house. The seats in the lower flat area, located below the stage level, give patrons a view of the show.

The theater also includes box seats for patrons. Statler and Waldorf's Box is located house right, and was a prominent fixture on The Muppet Show. The house left box has rarely been seen. In Coulter Watt's mural made for the Henson Townhouse in 1984, Kermit the Frog, Miss Piggy and Foo-Foo reside in that space.

The auditorium also features a balcony, most prominently seen in The Muppet Show opening. Few events took place in the balcony; one notable exception was the introduction of Fozzie's mom in episode 216. In It's a Very Merry Muppet Christmas Movie, the auditorium has been done over to include stairs from the house to lead to the balcony.

For the 2011 film, The Muppets, the theatre was rebuilt from an existing set created for the 1925 film The Phantom of the Opera. Of designing the theatre, and it's importance to the film, Production Designer Steve Saklad said they transformed the existing set into a "classic, Broadway-style theatre, front of house."[1]
