TV Total is a long-running German late-night television comedy talk show hosted by creator/producer Stefan Raab. The Cologne-produced show, which airs on TV channel ProSieben, has been in production since 1999. The show focuses in particular on mocking the funniest moments from other shows on German television, and regularly welcomes national and international celebrity guests.

Appearances[]

  • On January 31, 2013, on show #1850, Ernie and Bert appeared together with host Stefan Raab, who paid tribute to Sesamstrasse's 40th anniversary. After a short backstage preview during his opening monologue, he chatted with the duo, and together they sang the show's theme song, as well as a rendition of "Quietsche Entchen." Towards the end of the show, the characters showed off their head-banging skills.[2][3][4]
  • On October 5, 2015, on show #2205, Elmo appeared with host Stefan Raab to promote Sesamstrasse's 42nd season. The little monster got grilled on his gender, the age of his show, current celebrity guests hosting the Word of the Day segments, whether he is related to Grover, as well as why his breath smells fishy. In the end both exchanged gifts; Raab received an Elmo hoodie, and Elmo received a new nose (actually a tennis ball ball that the host had laying around).[5]

Muppet Mentions[]

  • On January 8, 2003, on show #325, host Stefan Raab made fun of Sesamstrasse in a mock-tribute to the show's 30th anniversary, demanding the audience to only laugh like Ernie, and to wear Bert-unibrows. Later in the show, he sang an updated, re-imagined version of the show's theme song.[6][7]
