Die fantastische Miss Piggy Show is the name of both German dubs of The Fantastic Miss Piggy Show. As with Die Muppets gehen ins Kino (the 1981 special The Muppets Go to the Movies), and Die große Muppet-Party (the 1986 special The Muppets: A Celebration of 30 Years), two German dubs exist.
First Dub[]
The first dub aired on ZDF on December 6, 1984, featuring the original voices from Die Muppet Show.
The first dub is introduced by an off-screen announcer as a way "to celebrate ZDF's new broadcast center." ZDF was the Muppets' home network throughout the 1970s and 1980s, and minor references are made throughout the special, though never again by name. These were cut when the dub was repeated on September 2, 2000 on rival channel Super RTL.
This dub was broadcast again on September 1, 2000 for Super RTL, as part of a Muppet marathon. For this broadcast, the ZDF references (the announcement and network credit) are cut.
Second Dub[]
When the special aired a second time, on RTL2 during the holiday season of 1995, a new second dub was produced. The dub features a mix of some of the previously used voices, as well as some of the second set of voices used since Die Muppets Weihnachtsgeschichte (the 1992 film The Muppet Christmas Carol).
The second dub eliminates any previous references to the ZDF network or its broadcast center.
Neither of the two dubs was ever released on home video.
