SS-ShareTheLaughter

Spread Kindness, Share the Laughter is an online Sesame Street campaign announced by Sesame Workshop in February 2017.[1] The year-long, multimedia campaign coincided with the show's 47th season, which focused on a kindness curriculum. Throughout the year, many of the show's social media posts include the hashtag "#ShareTheLaughter."

On August 17 (National Tell-a-Joke Day), Sesame Workshop launched "Elmo’s #ShareTheLaughter Challenge," a social media campaign encouraging fans to share jokes and tag others to do so. The campaign launched with a series of videos featuring the Sesame Street Muppets and celebrities telling jokes (including Kate McKinnon, Josh Groban and Andy Grammer). A pop-up video booth was also opened in Columbus Circle in New York City, where people can share their own jokes.

Other celebrities appearing in videos include Kristen Bell, John Legend, Padma Lakshmi, Ilana Glazer, Kit Harington, Gwendoline Christie, Sophie Turner, Chris Mazdzer, Shaun White, John Daly, Hailey Langland, Chloe Kim, Alessia Cara, Drew Scott, Jonathan Scott, Savannah Guthrie, Matt Lauer, and Lindsey Vonn. Muppets appearing in videos included Elmo, Abby Cadabby, Cookie Monster, Telly Monster, Bert and Ernie, Rosita, Big Bird, The Martians, an animated Snuffy, Grover, Herry Monster, Slimey, Rudy, Gonger and the Two-Headed Monster.

Weekly videos associated with the campaign were shared on the show's social media accounts through September. Additionally, Snapchat added a special Sesame Street-related filter and "Elmoji" stickers were available for smartphone downloads.[2]

The Spanish equivalent campaign is #ComparteLaRisa.
