OK Go and the Muppets - Muppet Show Theme Song

OK Go and the Muppets - "The Muppet Show Theme Song"

In 2011, OK Go and the Muppets produced a music video for the band's cover of "The Muppet Show Theme," which was released on The Green Album. The video was first released online on August 23, 2011 and was aired on the Disney Channel.

Much of the video references the band's past music videos, including "Here It Goes Again," "All Is Not Lost," "This Too Shall Pass," and "White Knuckles."

Kirk Thatcher directed the video, with Craig Kief serving as director of photography (one of his earliest shoots with the Muppets). The video, co-produced by Soapbox Films, was shot over the course of two days at Delphino Studios in Slymar, California.[1]

In addition to the video, OK Go, joined by Animal on drums, performed the song on The Tonight Show with Jay Leno on August 31.

Notes[]

  • Bunny, the dog addressed by Rowlf at the end of the video, is Damian Kulash's own pet dog.[2]
  • Italian music artist Elio recorded his own version of "The Muppet Show Theme" the same year to promote the release of I Muppet (the Italian dub of The Muppets). The music video repurposes stock clips from various Muppet productions, including this video (including the penguins hanging on the curtains, Kermit's intro, and Statler and Waldorf's comments).
