Muppets Spotlight PILOT EPISODE (Directors Cut)

A short video called "The Muppet Spotlight" appeared on YouTube c. 2006[1] featuring the Muppets.

In what appears to be a promo reel for a proposed project, Kermit, Piggy, Gonzo, Pepe, Fozzie, Beaker, Dr. Bunsen Honeydew, Rizzo, Sam the Eagle, Statler and Waldorf, and Animal report on various current events in the style of entertainment news programs such as Entertainment Tonight and Access Hollywood.

The video was most likely produced in 2005, considering Fozzie's reference to Million Dollar Baby at the Oscars, Pepe's reference to Sammy Sosa being trading from the Cubs, and Rizzo's reference to Ashton Kutcher being honorary starter of the Daytona 500. Also produced in 2005, and using the same blue-screen based set, is the DVD exclusive Pepe's Profiles.

The video references Animal and Snoop Dogg producing a video entitled Girls Gone Wildlife (such a parody was later seen on Statler & Waldorf: From the Balcony on Movies.com).

Other references include celebrity fahion, celebrity iPods, Sports Illustrated, The Dukes of Hazzard, Desperate Housewives, and the thrilling combination of extreme sports and nudity.
