A British Muppet Show strip was proposed for the Junior TV Times magazine 'Look-in'. As editor Colin Shelbourn recalled in correspondence with Shaqui Le Vesconte circa 1984, "...the copyright holders wouldn't sanction [a] strip of any sort at that time."
However, a spec page of black-and-white art has been discovered, as sold by IPC to private dealers. Reputedly dated around 1976, the artwork was possibly used to try and sell the idea to the licensees of the series. Both writer and artist remain unidentified but as the first British annual based on The Muppet Show was not published until late 1977, this may be the first comic strip tie-in produced for the series.
