SCENE 1 Maria exits 123 Sesame Street and is shocked to find a tree potted right in front of Oscar's trash can. Maria teases Oscar with her bag of trash, which Oscar accepts through the leaves. He points out the other trees on the block and lists some of his tree's benefits, most importantly the way it keeps his can hidden from sight so no one can bother him.

The couple drives Oscar crazy with their reminiscing, kissing, and sweet talk; they even offer to share their food with him.

SCENE 5 David and Maria go to see what's developed with Oscar and his tree only to find it gone, with just a tub of dirt remaining. Oscar says the tree was more trouble than it was worth, so he went and planted it in the park. He wanted to keep the dirt though, and has brought back some nice rocks he found in the park to put in it and make a mess. Maria and David point out the rocks are actually acorns, which Oscar is dismayed to learn will grow into trees!

Ernie, however, is now convinced that a fish melted the ice cubes, and angrily walks out the door to "tear him fin-from-fin."
